Yerba Mate (450mg) Description from Solaray
Yerba Mate (yer-bah mah-tay) is an evergreen shrub in the holly family. Its origins can be traced back to the indigenous Guarani people of modern day Paraguay. It became popular as a tea in the early 1800's when it was discovered by Spaniards who colonized South America. Many of the compounds found in Yerba Mate are similar to those found in tea, including polyphenols, tannins and xanthine alkaloids.
